Deassimilation Diet
Archival Pigment Prints, 2017-ongoing
The photographic images in Deassimilation Diet use organic materials to consider ritual, transference, and nourishment. Composed in domestic spaces, these images use framing, color and texture to explore the corporeal and porous nature of caregiving. My family, loved ones and self are examined through staged performative actions. Focusing on the gesture of hands as a method of portraiture, these photographs touch upon intimate, radical moments that consider the transference between sustenance and the body as well the spiritual relationship to nourishment, beyond caloric resource.
